The Grupo Dançando com a Diferença, was born of a larger initiative called Projecto Dançando com a Diferença (Dancing with the Difference Project), developed since September 2001 to June 2007 in DREER - Direcção Regional de Educação Especial e Reabilitação, under the responsibility of Henrique Amoedo. Since then, this initiative develops in the Associação dos Amigos da Arte Inclusiva – Dançando com a Diferença (Association of Friends of Inclusive Art – Dancing with the Difference).

The innovation and boldness, among many others, are characteristic of Contemporary Art and consequently, are present in this work. Not in a free and inconsequent manner, but with an attitude that we can only contribute to the modification of the social image of disabled people if we combine them and present them to the public in order to confront them with this reality.

These same characteristics have been able to open doors so that a protocol of cooperation was established between us and the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento Ponta do Oeste. In this context, since July 2005, the Grupo Dançando com a Diferença is the resident company at the Centro das Artes Casa das Mudas, a unique space not only because of the characteristics of the building, but also because it includes among it’s goals the development of an inclusive policy of cultural offering, allowing to different groups the access to culture, leisure and cultural and artistic production.

I invite you, therefore, to know through this virtual space our wide project that includes actions linked to education, therapeutic support and especially art. Project that we wish, continues growing and expanding it’s participation and competitive quality in the "market of dance".
